Avidya means thinking of yourself as separate from other beings. Raja (attachment) and Dvesha (aversion) bring us further into the feeling of being seperate, selfish and scared as we divide the world into beings we like and beings we don’t. The goal of yoga is to overcome attachment and aversion in the mind and to feel our true selves as interconnected will the whole universe. Feeling ourselves as “other”, leads to feelings of dis-ease, confusion, anger, sorrow. Healing can begin when we see ourselves in others and others in ourselves.
